Abstract: this dissertation. My major advisor, Professor Yaakov Bar-Shalom, deserves my deep appreciation for his excellent guidance. His scholarship in conducting research, his insight and expertise in the tracking field, as well as his cheerful attitude toward some strenuous research work have been a constant inspiration to me. Besides, my writing skills could not improve without his careful wording corrections of all my manuscripts (Update)
