Abstract: Extensive research has been conducted in order to improve
the security and efficiency of electronic auctions. However, not much attention
has been paid to the design issues. In this paper, we discuss security,
trust, and design issues contrasting the differences between various
auction types. We will show that poor design for an electronic auction
breaches the security of the system and degrades its practicality --no matter
