Abstract: This paper explores the estimation of surface shape from texture when multiple textures are present in an image region due to texture discontinuities, occlusion, or pseudo-transparency (e.g. grass seen through a fence). We present both a theoretical analysis of the multiple texture problem and an algorithm that relaxes the single texture assumption.
