Abstract: INTRODUCTION In TREC 2003, we focused on definitional questions. For factoid and list questions, we simply re-used our TREC 2002 system with some modifications. For definitional QA, we adopted a hybrid approach that combines several complementary technology components. Information retrieval (IR) was used to retrieve from the corpus the relevant documents for each question.
