Abstract: In this paper, we develop a bottom-up fixed point semantics for pure Prolog programs containing 1/0 that is -- with respect to a particular query -- equivalent to the operational behaviour of that query. In other words: when the result of the fixed point computation is combined with a particular query, our semantics defines the sequence of answers for that query, as it would be returned by Prolog under its standard execution mechanism. We believe this semantics is well-suited as a basis for... (Update)
