Abstract: Methodologies for system families critically rely on the ability to generate variants from configurable components. Configurability translates into genericity in components, at the expense of efficiency. Also, configurability is usually coded in the program using low-level strategies such as #ifdef directives. Little attention has been devoted to the automatic generation of efficient variants. (Update)
