Abstract: This paper presents and analyses a low cost manufacturing communication system and provides performance measures for a file transfer application. It consists in the standard TOP profile implemented on a personal computer connected to a IEEE 802.3 LAN. High throughput is achieved by an efficient implementation architecture. Performance measurement results show a throughput efficiency that attains, for Application Layer (FTAM) user, 2,4 Mbit/s. The most important bottlenecks are analysed and... (Update)
