Abstract: Agent-oriented technique represents an exciting new means to develop complex software system. The paper presents a novel abstract concept of joint maintenance intention to represent joint constraints of social behaviors in multi-agent system. The joint maintenance intention's meaning and characteristics are discussed, the formal and rigorous semantics is defined, and some important properties are specified and proved.
