Abstract: Quantum Information Processing (QIP) is the new and burgeoning field that studies the implication of quantum mechanics for information processing purposes. It can be used in practice to provide for unbreakable cryptography and it offers in principle a new computing paradigm that sometimes allows for exponential speedups. In particular, quantum computers, should they ever be built, have the potential to bring to its knees most of contemporary cryptography as currently used over the Internet to... (Update)
