Backing up a Truck in Real-Time
Abstract:
Abstract. Autonomous vehicles are a new and exciting challenge for the automation of transport systems. The scope of applications covers heavy tra#c control from construction sites, fork-lifting trucks in factories, switcher locomotives in stations and so on. This article refers to the problem of backing up a model-truck with a trailer to a ramp. The concrete solution to this problem requires the integration of various software components on the model-truck based on dedicated algorithms for finding an adequate route and for driveand steering-control along this route in real-time. Additionally various security aspects have to be considered to make the system applicable under real world conditions. 1
