Abstract: In the present chapter, we illustrate some methodologies and assessed results achieved in the area of visual languages that can be profitably exploited in the field of software engineering. The discussion will start with an overview of the most common graphical notations used to support software engineering activities, and with the description of some popular visual environments. Then, we will illustrate some tools for the automatic generation of visual languages, based on formalisms for the... (Update)
