Abstract: This paper describes a family of networks, the bi-directional k-ary n-butterflies, and
presents a partially adaptive routing algorithm that uses virtual channels to guarantee
deadlock-freedom and to increase the network performance. Networks with 64 and
256 processors are extensively analyzed first using synthetic benchmarks and then a
set of collective communication patterns and distributed memory parallel applications
written in SPMD (Single Program Multiple Data) fashion. The... (Update)
