Abstract: this paper, Cohen [4] gives a somewhat more general asymmetric theory of loose-coupling in terms of program properties (i.e., without commutativity). The theory includes rules to derive loose-coupling of systems from loose-coupling of their components and rules to lift arbitrary progress properties of components to progress properties of a system. These rules have been successfully applied to the solution of several concurrent programming problems (Update)
