Abstract: The increasing amounts of digital data, originating from
corporations and individuals alike, is driving the need
for digital archives forward. This work discusses a system
designed to meet this need, the OceanStore archive.
This system stores documents in a secure manner, and
provides high availability and durability. We describe
the structures and algorithms used in the OceanStore
archive, and present a distributed fault detection and repair
scheme which makes use of OceanStore's routing
