Abstract:
The aim of this research project attempts to define complexity in images as a component of their architecture, which will reflect the users perception of visual complexity. The main aim is to attempt to define visual complexity in a "computational " or "mathematical " fashion and to define a framework under which images can be classified according to their inherit complexity. This framework can then be used to aid the design of human-machine interface design, and complexity based digital image enhancement and filtering. 2 Acknowledgements I would like to thank my supervisor, Patrik O’Brian Holt for his valuable help in this project.
