Abstract: In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a parallel programming environment called JAWS (Java Work Stealer). JAWS is implemented as a user-level Java library which schedules user threads over a network of workstations using a Work Stealer algorithm. The goal of JAWS is to enable programmers to write cross-platform parallel programs that run seamlessly on a network of workstations, and adapt automatically to the number of available workstations. 1.0 (Update)
