Abstract: This paper is not intended to undermine this theoretical and applied work. It aims merely to illustrate some problems with the informal intuitions that purport to explain and justify the formal theory of EL. In particular, this paper criticises the view that we should think of events as situations (episodes) which can be completely characterised by natural language sentences.
