Abstract:

(MIA) is a user-driven initiative that addresses the practical application of open systems software standards to business requirements. This paper provides historical background and context for this standardization effort and describes Digital’s contributions to the effort, particularly in the area of distributed transaction processing. Digital complied with the MIA specifications, integrated compliant products into a complete platform, and delivered a large application on the platform. 34 Digital Technical Journal Vol. 7 No. 2 1995
