Abstract:
We argue that OS-provided data coherence on non-cache-coherent NUMA multiprocessors (machines with a single, global physical address space), can perform substantially better than distributed shared memory emulations on message-passing hardware, and almost as well as fully cache-coherent multiprocessors. 1
