Abstract:
Abstract: Although current firewalls serve the purpose of current network security needs, they have several drawbacks and are not suitable for future networking environments. This paper examines the state of the art of the firewall technology and points out deficiencies in the current designs. It advocates software firewalls for solving the security problems in future networking environments. It explains the design of such software firewalls, called logical firewalls.
