Abstract:
The World-Wide Web, or WWW, is a distributed hypertext system that is rapidly gaining popularity in the Internet community. Access to the Web is gained by running a WWW browser (see Figure 1). A number of publicdomain WWW browsers are available, and the supported platforms include ordinary CRTs, X workstations, PCs and Macs. As a user traverses the Web, his or her browser exchanges messages with one or more web servers, requesting and receiving documents or other services.
