Abstract: Since Grossman and Morlet in 1980 gave the theoretical foundation of the "wavelet transform", wavelets gained a lot of interest in signal processing. It became specially popular after S. Mallat and I. Daubechies combined the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) with the theory of Quadrature Mirror Filter banks in a common description of the Multi-Resolution Analysis.
