Abstract: The introduction of Web applets and servlets has sparked interest in security at the language level. Users want applets to be able to read and write local information, and also to be able to access the network. Despite this, they require assurance that the applet does not disclose sensitive information or gain access to unauthorized resources. Language-based approaches to protection are system-independent, and have the potential of allowing finer-grain control than is possible in most operating ... (Update)
