Abstract: Handoffs in the Wireless ATM (WATM) require fast handoff and seamless services. When the user environment is in-door and micro cell based, the user experiences handoffs frequently. Since the currently proposed handoff mechanisms are based network layer handoff scheme, they suffer from a longer disruption of services caused by a longer hand off delays. In this paper we present a new data link layer support mechanism that will minimize the handoff delay. We show that the handoff delay is reduced... (Update)
